For the expansion of our fast growing team we are seeking to recruit one or more

Data Engineer(s) (80-100%) (PDF, 211 KB)

to commence immediately or by agreement. The incumbent will be instrumental for the design and development of SARI’s tailor-made research environments, the ongoing implementation of the SARI reference data and reconciliation services, as well as the handling of research and collection data according to latest Open Research Data practices.

The position involves the design and implementation of data pipelines using semantic web technology, the implementation of custom processes for data analysis, data alignment, enhancement and cleaning, the transformation of data using common target ontologies (CIDOC-CRM, among others), as well as the harmonisation of datasets across multiple research projects. The position is limited to 1 year, with option for extension.

The ideal candidate should have an academic degree in computer science and/or knowledge representation and preferably a multidisciplinary background embracing the humanities or digital humanities, as well as a proven track record in data analysis and data modelling. Proficient knowledge in one or more programming languages is mandatory (especially Python). Knowledge of CIDOC-CRM modelling, semantic technologies (RDF, RDFS, OWL, SPARQL), and web technologies (HTML, CSS) is a plus.
