PD Dr. Roger Fayet

Dr. Roger Fayet is member of the Executive Board of the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) at the University of Zurich, and director of the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) in Zurich.

Roger Fayet studied Philosophy, Art History and German Literature at the University of Zurich, where he obtained his PhD in 2003; in 2016, he earned his habilitation with studies on object constellations and the genesis of meaning in works of art and exhibitions. From 1994 to 1999, he was Assistant Curator at the Johann Jacobs Museum, Zurich. 1999–2003, he worked as Head Curator of the Museum Bellerive and the applied arts collection of the Museum für Gestaltung, Zurich. 2003–2010, he was Director of the Museum zu Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen. Roger Fayet was President of the Swiss National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Switzerland) (2009–2015), and is currently Vice President of the International Association of Research Institutes in the History of Art (RIHA). Fayet is lecturer at the University of Zurich and at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He is the author of Die Logik des Museums. Beiträge zur Museologie (2015) and Reinigungen. Vom Abfall der Moderne zum Kompost der Nachmoderne (2003), and the co-editor of, amongst others, Wissenschaft, Sentiment und Geschäftssinn. Landschaft um 1800 (2017) and Museumsethik. Aktuelle Probleme in der Debatte (2013).
